| Don't you hate the feeling of being completely cut off from all of your friends? Have some of you even had this feeling? It's the feeling of total isolation, like you trapped on an island with people you hate and you just wish you could go back home with people you can have fun with. I have felt isolated since the last day of school. I haven't been able to see anyone and I haven't really had contact with any of them. You know what I feel like right now? Like a Sim on the Sims game with all those bars telling how much you need to eat or how much rest you need. My energy bar is low and my social bar is at an absolute stand still zero.
I don't want to wait until rehearsals in July because then we are all so busy I don't get to see them. And it turns out color guard has to be inside basically the whole two weeks because Rob Jett (amazing choregrapher...takes time out of his schedule to plan a HS show) can't make it this week and has to come band camp week to teach us. So we're only going to be outside like two or three days to quickly learn our drill. The only thing that has kept me sane (amazingly enough) is seeing people in color guard everyday this week, or I would be completely haywired.
Speaking of color guard, our June camp is going pretty well even if we aren't learning the show. We are learning pregame stuff and trying out for all the positions and sections on the field. At the end of the week we find out if we are on Advanced Rifle Line, Secondary Rifle Line, Dance Line, Advanced Flag Line, or Secondary Flag Line. I'm hoping for secondary rifle and advanced flag. I will seriously cry if I get secondary flag. Anyways, it feels really nice being an upper classmen/second year member. I haven't got to help anyone quite yet because there's not enough new girls to help but I can give quick pointers and I'm not frusterated and confused all the time, not constantly worrying if I'm the worst one or not. I like it, it's exciting.
Back to the social thing (like anyone's going to seriously read this, I just want to get it out), last year I was really upset and pissy with a lot of girls in guard. Last year we didn't have a happy guard, we had a bitchy one. There were at least five different division groups everyone went to. This year it's only two (which I figured). Overall its a very happy, together guard. Since there's less new people we can go a lot faster on teaching stuff. Besides, I love talking with a few of my close guard friends. It's cool because we can bring up any random subject and just starting talking about it, no matter how wierd it is. We are completely blunt and crazy and I love it. You don't have to watch what you say at all, you can be completely straight foward with everything. And it's better this year, last time I could only talk to like Amanda and Christine but this year my group of guard friends has widened (although there's still some I don't think I will ever be able to just talk to).
